Activity Overview

Standup Paddleboarding (SUP) on Oahu is safe and plentiful with the abundance of bays, off-shore islands, sheltered, reef-lined shores and inland rivers. There is always a new adventure waiting for you.

You will be paddling through a picturesque landscape of river, mountains and jungle. You’ll have a chance to make a stop at a rope swing or two or try your hand at SUP yoga. This lush valley is culturally and historically significant.

You will get to explore the rain forests of Oahu’s Windward Coast where you get a hidden Amazonian-like feel without the dangers of Anacondas or Piranhas. If you are attentive you will often see wetland birds in the trees and schools of fish rippling under the water.

This is a Rain forest Valley and one of the wettest parts of the island, so there is a high probability of rain. We do not cancel bookings for rain. Rain just makes the experience more refreshing and adventurous. When else can you say you’ve paddled through a Hawaiian Rain forest in the rain? Although, if conditions are dangerous we will notify you as soon as we know to re-schedule the booking.

Needless to say, Oahu remains one of the best places in the world to have a family vacation, Standup Paddleboarding trip or do some SUP Surfing.

We will include directions and more detailed info about your self-guided experience in the confirmation email after you book.

We provide foam pads and straps to help you transport the Standup Paddleboards to the paddling location.

Here is some more info about the meeting location and other helpful links:

The parking lot we will be meeting you at is:
Keneke’s Grill at Punaluu
53-138 Kamehameha Hwy Kaaawa, HI 96730

Try the Google Maps link:
https://goo.gl/maps/UTw2fML9aHy

It’s in front of a local restaurant called Keneke’s Grill. There is plenty of room to park before you continue to the kayaking location.

The driver will be there with the equipment at or a little before the reservation time. Our drivers often use personal vehicles for the tours, so keep an eye out for a vehicle with Standup Paddle Boards (SUPs).

It’s a short drive around the corner to your destination, so we will loan you pads and straps to transport the boards to the launch location.

The valley you will paddle in is a rain forest and has all sorts of hiking trails and rope swings. It’s one of our favorite locations on the island. The whole area is surrounded by epic mountains. It’s a cool place.

The best place to park is in the State Park parking lot. Here is the google maps link for that location:
Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park

From there, you carry the boards to the grassy area and launch the boards straight into the river. Please handle the boards with care, do not drag the boards on the asphalt and please do not sit or stand on the boards while on land.

Standup paddleboarding is something that I’ve never tried before but I would love to do it again. It felt like going back in time paddling through the rain forest on top of this long board.

We took some stand up paddle board lessons earlier in our vacation and decided to try out this tour through the rainforest. Going up the river was much easier than spending time in the ocean and we saw so many sights! Thank you for offering this experience.
