The most in-depth volcano experience on the Island of Hawaii is back! Your National Park Certified Guide will share a mix of natural and cultural history about the island’s formation, illuminating the stories behind the ever-changing landscape of our island home. Stay after dark to see Kilauea’s latest eruption light up the night sky!

Highlights include:

  • On this in-depth park experience, your interpretive guide will illuminate the historic events that recently changed the landscape of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park forever.
  • Enjoy 2-3 miles of hiking around the park’s most dynamic terrain
  • View Kilauea’s latest eruption after dark, when the glow from lava deep in the caldera lights up the night’s sky!
    We’ll visit a large private lava tube known for its bright yellow and gold microbial mats living on the cave walls. This lava tube is only accessible to Hawaii Forest & Trail guests.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time.
  • Please Note: In recent days lava levels have risen allowing for views of a sliver of the actual lava lake itself. To reach this view guests must take an approximately 2-mile hike over uneven terrain. Our guides will provide the flashlights and expert knowledge to lead you to the right spots to get the viewing experience of a lifetime (weather and lava level permitting).

  • 12:50 PM – Subway Keaau (parking lot)*

*TOUR TIMING: Please be aware your tour length will be approximately 7 to 8 hours total in duration due to your pick-up location being closer in proximity to both our private lava tube & Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Additionally, due to the tour itinerary you will be unable to view Rainbow Falls. Mahalo!
